Temporary slots are the whole game. Count how many empty ones you have before you start pulling threads, because a thread parked with nowhere to go can end the level.
Pull from the knitted object with the fewest threads first. It clears a whole piece quickly and frees the space the rest of the board is waiting on.
Always keep one temporary slot in reserve. The moment every slot is full you have no legal place for a thread that has no matching box free.
The Magic Box, New Hole and Broom are there for a board you have already blocked. Spending one early is usually cheaper than losing the run entirely.
