Tips and strategy

• Start with the colour you have least of. Rare shades have the fewest legal cells, so placing them first tells you where the common colours can go rather than the other way round.
• Work the edges of the picture before the middle. Border cells have fewer neighbours constraining them, and an outline in the right place keeps the finished image from looking wrong.
• When a jewel has two possible cells, check the picture rather than the palette. The colour in your hand has to match the artwork, and guessing from the shape alone is how a nearly finished board stalls.
• Save a couple of easy colours for the end. The last cells have the least freedom left, so having a simple gem to place keeps you from running out of legal spaces.
